As the old saying goes, “practice makes perfect.” But actually that’s not quite right. Perfect practice makes perfect. If you practice wrong – stepping in the bucket, letting the ball play you – then you only get good at those bad habits. You can try to polish your skills during team workouts and scrimmages, but with so many people on the roster there’s usually only enough time to take BP and infield, fly balls or throw a bullpen session, and that’s it.
And that’s where our SU Lessons can help.
With customized training-and-progression plans meticulously developed by our outstanding team of instructors in concert with athletes and parents, you can really focus on the areas of the game that YOU want to work on – anything from opposite field hitting, framing a pitch, perfecting the change up to modifying your fielding technique.
We do it all in our state-of-the-art indoor facilities, where there are never any rain delays and where our unique instructional system creates the perfect environment for building both skills and confidence.

My coaching philosophy is simple, but very important:
Be Intentional
Whether you’re showing up to a tryout, practice, or game, always be ready to give 100%. Intention soon becomes instinct when you are focused on perfecting your craft!
Be Comfortable with Being Uncomfortable
Learning and trying new things can be awkward, and at times, it can test your comfort zone! But having an open mindset and a willingness to learn will improve both the physical and mental aspects of the game.
Have Fun!
Of course, I believe that this is the most important point of all. I want to create an environment where players can gain and feel confident not only in their practice, but in their everyday lives. It’s imperative that I establish strong connections and be a positive role model towards young female athletes.

What is the most memorable moment you have had on a baseball / softball field as a player or coach?
“My step-dad was my coach so we were able to always put in the extra work! There is nothing better than one-on-one instruction on an empty field on a Sunday evening.”
What do you think young people learn from participating in team sports that will help them off the field for the rest of their lives?
“My goal is to show young women that they can succeed at any level of their sport. The fundamentals of the game and teamwork are the same at every level and I want to help girls reach their full potential!”
What is the best piece of advice you ever got from a coach?
“You play your best when you’re not thinking about it. You know how to do it, now just go out and play!”
What is something you do extremely well as an instructor that people might be surprised to hear or learn?
“Little changes make the biggest difference! Whether it be lifting your elbow a tiny bit to throw, getting more rotation in your hips for more power, or actually seeing the ball go all the way into your glove when fielding/catching. I’m able to see the small things that may need tweaking.”

Softball has brought me the greatest experiences, mentors, and friendships at every level that I played at. I feel blessed at the ability to now give back and share the knowledge that I have learned up to this point and continue to learn. My goal is to bring enthusiasm about the sport, understandable and relatable instruction, and consistent growth to every athlete I get the privilege to work with. In addition to learning softball skills, I believe in cultivating an athlete’s work ethic, confidence, and leadership skills.

I BELIEVE IN CREATING A POSITIVE ENVIROMENT WITH THE POWER OF A GROWTH MINDEST. TEACHING KIDS THAT WE CAN CONTROL BOTH OUR ATTITUDES AND EFFORT ON AND OFF THE FIELD
What is the Most Memorable Moment You Have Had on a Softball Field?
“As a player there are many moments that stand out but my favorite was playing at 14u western Nationals in St. George Utah in 108 degree heat. We lost our first game of the day and had to play our way back in the losers bracket. We played 7 games that day. Starting at 7:30 am and ending at midnight. We ended up taking 3rd place. It was a day that we were able to say we left everything on the field.”
What is the Best Piece of Advice You Ever Got from a Coach?

REMEMBERING THE BASICS THAT DRAWS EVERYONE TO THIS SPORT. UNDERSTAND THERE IS MORE TO IT THAN JUST BALL AND GLOVE. REMEMBER TO PLAY FOR YOUR “WHY.” WHY ARE YOU HERE? WHY DO YOU WANT THIS SO BAD? DON’T GET CAUGHT GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS, HAVE INTENSITY AND PLAY TO HAVE FUN. MAKE EVERY MEMORY, EXPERIENCE, AND PLAY COUNT. FUEL THE FIRE WITHIN AND BUILD YOUR PASSION FOR THE SPORT THAT DRIVES YOU. THIS IS NOT JUST A GAME, IT IS A COMMUNITY OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE SAME PASSION AND KNOWLEDGE THAT CAN BE SHARED THROUGH ALL AGES. NO MATTER WHERE LIFE TAKES YOU, THERE IS ALWAYS A PLACE FOR SOFTBALL.

What is Something You Do Extremely Well That People Might Be Surprised to Learn?
“Being positive and meeting players where they’re at. People might think that because I’m loud and set expectations that I wouldn’t also be as friendly as I am, but I find that a positive approach is what works best for me as an instructor and for the young athletes I work with. Meeting athletes where they are in their journey is about not forcing them into a box and finding out how we can equip them with the tools they need to achieve the goals they set for themselves.”
What is the Best Piece of Advice You Ever Got from a Coach?
“Change my perspective. This applies not only to life, but our approach for hitting, fielding, how we think about ourselves and our team. The mind is a powerful tool, and sometimes all we need to do is look at things from a different viewpoint or take a different approach and we can achieve anything.”

These collaborative skills will serve players for the rest of their lives, whether that’s in a classroom or a workplace in the future.”
What is the best piece of advice you ever got from a coach?

Most memorable moment on a softball field:
“The most memorable moment I have is when giving catching lessons, and seeing a light bulb click or being able to watch the growth within the player and helping them become the player they would like to be.”
What do people learn from participating in team sports that will help them off the field for the rest of their lives?
“I think young people can learn responsibility, leadership qualities, social skills, and being able to work in a team environment – but they can also have the opportunity to learn to work independently when trying to reach their personal goals.”
Best piece of advice I ever got from a coach
“In high school, I would struggle with my own thoughts and it was the only thing keeping me from being a better player. My coach would give me advice on how to stop being my own worst enemy.”
Something I do extremely well as an instructor that people might be surprised to hear or learn?
“I have been complimented on how active and positive I am as an instructor. When I first started, I would wear my catcher’s gear to do the workouts/skill sets with the girls and parents would love how I would do that. They also praised how positive I was and would say that I am a great role model to their daughter.”

Coaching Philosophy
“My goal is to share my passion and knowledge of the game to help build strong, confident, and fearless individuals. I have an intentional focus on the mental side of the game. I do not just share how to do something; I share why so that we can truly develop a player’s softball IQ. This game has given me so much in life. It has contributed to who I am, and I have learned from the best of the best. My goal is to pass along the information I have acquired in my journey. My motto is how you do one thing is how you do everything. Have intention with everything you do, not just on the field, but off as well. Softball doesn’t define who we are, but it can help form awesome human beings.”

SOFTBALL IS A GAME OF FAILURE.IT’S ONE OF THE TOUGHEST SPORTS YOU CAN PLAY AND IT CHALLENGES YOU IN MULTIPLE FACETS, WHICH MAKES ITFUN. I’M FOCUSED ON DEVELOPING NOT ONLY SKILLS TO BETTER YOURSELF ON THE FIELD BUT ALSO THE MENTAL DISCIPLINE AND COURAGE TO TAKE ON THIS WONDERFULLY DIFFICULT SPORT.
What is Something You Do extremely Well as an Instructor that People Might Be Surprised to Learn?
“I love to give advice on recruiting and share my experience from my collegiate career with the younger generations of softball players. I teach girls the different cultures of collegiate athletics, specific recruiting techniques, and the expectations to have when deciding to play sports in college. As someone who studied Sports Management, took internships with different University Athletics Department, and was a Collegiate Athlete myself, I have a good idea of how the system works and operates.”
What Do You Think Young People Learn from Participating in Team Sports?
“The main thing young people learn in sports is community and camaraderie. You are all striving to work towards a common goal, which makes working as a team extremely important. You will also see what doesn’t work when you don’t work together.”

“SOFTBALL HAS GIVEN ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE MENTORED BY MANY INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE WHO HAVE INSTILLED IN ME A MINDSET AND WORK ETHIC THAT I WANT TO PASS ON TO EVERY ATHLETE. I ASPIRE TO LEAD BY EXAMPLE BY CONTINUING TO STUDY THE GAME AND GROW AS A COACH, MODELING TO PLAYERS THAT THEY ARE NEVER DONE LEARNING. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT EACH PLAYER KNOWS THAT I AM IN THEIR CORNER, TO HELP THEM REACH THEIR UNREALIZED AND FULL POTENTIAL AS A PLAYER AND TEAMMATE. PLAYERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTACK THE PROCESS WITH CONFIDENCE, ATTENTION TO DETAIL, AND A POSITIVE MINDSET ON THEIR JOURNEY TO BECOMING THEIR BEST SELF.”
