BIO

Lauren Lombardi graduated from CSU Long Beach with her undergrad in 2017. She worked on obtaining her teaching credential through her final season of play in 2019. Despite battling injuries between 2016-2018, she entered the school’s record book as a top-10 in multiple categories: single-season RBI’s, career home runs, etc. and is #2 in career batting average. In 2015 and 2019 she was named to First Team All-Big West Conference. Lauren’s proudest accomplishment was receiving the Bill Bovee Determination Award in 2018 for overcoming her obstacles for the sport she loves.

Lauren comes from a family of ball players. Her sister Julia played by her side over her 4 seasons with CSU Long Beach, while the youngest Lombardi is playing at CSU San Marcos. Lauren’s mother competed back in high school the same as her father, Phil, who was a top prospect and went on to play for the Yankees right out of high school.

“Long Beach was a natural choice. I fell in love with the campus and felt welcomed by the coaches and players. Only an hour from home, I knew it would allow the most important people in my life to continue to support my career. There’s nowhere else I could have fit in better, both on the field and in the classroom.”

BIO

Myranda Bueno is a recent graduate of the University of Nevada Las Vegas where she was a student-athlete majoring in Criminal Justice. As a member of the Rebel softball team she played outfield, was a four-year letterwinner, and starter. Myranda played 178 games during her Rebel career with a recorded .296 career batting average. Over her four years, she collected 145 hits, 92 runs scored, 21 doubles, 54 RBI and four career home runs. In the field, finished with 218 putouts, 14 assists and just six errors in four years for a .975 career fielding percentage.

Born and raised in Whittier, California, Myranda attended St. Paul High School winning a CIF State Championship in Division III in 2014. She played travel ball for the Corona Angels for 3 years of her 18 year softball career.

Myranda regularly volunteers and enjoys giving back to the community. She was a Coach Mentor for the Natasha Watley Foundation for 3 seasons.

BIO

My name is Mary Gonzales and I started playing when I was 3 years old and started out with baseball till I was 10 years old and then transitioned to softball. I have played every position growing up and played those multiple positions even into my college years. I went to Long Beach City College my first two years of college and I pitched and played center field and second base as well. I then transferred to Marymount California University and played for the schools first ever softball team. I played outfield and second base my first year and then became a full-time pitcher and second baseman my second year. This past year I was the pitching coach at the college and I also coached a girls 10u team for a season at GBG and worked with the Dodgers RBI program for eight weeks. I just recently graduated Marymount with my degree in Business Marketing and when I am not coaching I enjoy going on small vacations to visit family in Arizona and Utah, playing with my dogs and reading books.

COACHING PHILOSOPHY

I want players to understand the game is supposed to be fun. It’s going to be hard, but the end result will be worth it. Mistakes are going to happen and all we can do is learn from them because they’re going to happen. Softball is a game of failure and that’s the hard truth, but brushing it off and getting ready for the next one is key. I want players to reach their full potential and be the best they can be.

BIO

I grew up in Torrance, California graduated from Torrance High School in 2014. I played third base and pitched for my high school career. I decided to go to JC El Camino College and study kinesiology.  There I was made a catcher and first baseman and had the time of my life playing there as a warrior. After my season with them I went to JC Harbor College to keep on in my kinesiology major and continued playing softball there where I went back to my roots and I was the top starting pitcher as well as third base. After playing I then decided to start coaching the game I love, which brought me to The Girls Of GBG in August 2017 where I was a Manager/ Head Coach for a 16u and 12u Select team and in 2018 became a facility Instructor!

COACHING PHILOSOPHY

My objective to coaching these young athletes is to make sure they’re having fun while putting in their hard work and effort. If they are having fun they will keep interest & focus, not only in the workout but in the game itself. As for the growth and development of these athletes is also very important to me, to teach them the physical, mental and social aspects of the game and to keep them motivated to learn more skills through drills and get better at the game. Sharing my knowledge of the sport I love to young athletes who have that same love for the game is what makes me love what I’m doing as a coach and instructor.
